Consultant Physician Sport and Exercise Medicine
Dane is a Consultant Physician in Sport and Exercise Medicine. Dane has worked as a Strength and Conditioning coach and personal trainer before qualifying in Medicine from Hull York Medical School and then training as a GP in York. He then completed a further 4 years of specialist training in Sports and Exercise Medicine. Dane has completed his MSc in SEM from the University Nottingham, PGCME with merit (Medical Education) from Cardiff University and his Musculoskeletal Ultrasound training with merit in London.
Dane is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for England Basketball and Team Doctor for Wales Football's Senior Women. Dane has also previous worked for the Football Association, GB Basketball, in rugby league and union, at the FINA European Swimming Championships, FIBA Eurobasket and supported the England Basketball team during 2 Commonwealth games. He currently works as a consultant for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) alongside his sporting roles and work at YSM and the Yorkshire Concussion Clinic.
Dane has held academic medical education positions in the NHS and teaches for Hull York Medical School and the University of Leeds. At the University of Leeds, Dane is the Academic Clinical lead for the MSc in SEM. He is currently the training programme director for NHS specialist training in Sport and Exercise Medicine for Yorkshire and Humber and looks after doctors training to become consultants. Dane regularly teaches GPs, doctors and other health care professionals around musculoskeletal medicine and concussion.
Dane provides specialist consultations on concussion to professional sports teams and organisations.
Consultant Physiotherapist and Concussion Researcher
Dan holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Huddersfield as well as an Msc in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Leeds and an MBA from the University of Hull. He is currently working towards a PhD investigating complex symptom drivers and assessment in sports related concussion through the University of Ulster.
Dan has spent the past 12 years managing concussive injuries while working full time in professional sport. In this time he has gained significant experience in the assessment and management of such injuries. Dan continues to work full time within professional sport alongside his research activities and is a visiting lecturer on the University of Leeds' MSc in SEM. At the Yorkshire Concussion Clinic Dan leads on the baseline testing and rehabilitation elements of the clinic.
Originally from Belfast, Brianna is a Biomechanics Researcher and Sports Scientist with a special interest in concussion. She holds a BSc Sport and Exercise Science and an MSc Strength and Conditioning from Ulster University.
Brianna has experience working within the world renowned Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin and is currently completing her PhD around concussion biomechanics. More specifically the use of instrument assisted mouthguards in the monitoring of head accelerations in professional rugby league. Alongside her PhD work Brianna works as a sports scientist within a Super League rugby club. At the clinic Brianna works in the collection of baseline concussion metrics and post injury data collection.
Jon is a Consultant physician in Sport and Exercise Medicine, Jon graduated from the University of Leeds in 2001 and gaied his Masters in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) from the University of Nottingham. Jon has completed his Specialist Training in Sport and Exercise Medicine and scored the highest national score in the post graduate exams at the time and was awarded the Macleod Medal.
As an experienced physician, Jon has worked with a range of organisations including specialist NHS musculoskeletal clinics, England Rugby, Team GB (London 2012), Football Association and was the former head of medical services for Leeds rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie. Jon is an Educational supervisor to doctors undertaking specialist training in Sport and Exercise Medicine and Director of Placement for the University of Leeds MSc in SEM. As an Honarary Associate Professor at the University of Leeds, Jon is involved in a rnage of projects and research including concussion.
Greg is an experienced senior researcher with a focus on concussion. He is a biomechanist with a PHd in biomedical engineering from Dublin. He is an associate professors at Ulster University.
